From Career Advisor to Creative Visionary: Why I’m Finally Unpacking My Dreams

The Weight of “Someday” For a long time, I carried my dreams around like a heavy suitcase—something I planned to unpack only “when the timing was right.”

I spent five years as a paralegal and three years as a career advisor. In that latter role, I spent my days helping others navigate their paths and find their dream jobs. I loved helping them, but there was a quiet irony in it: while I was coaching others to chase their passions, I was telling myself that my own passion for design was just a side project, a hobby, or a “maybe later.”
But I’ve learned that “later” is a finish line that keeps moving. By putting my dreams aside, I wasn’t just being patient—I was playing it safe.
The Turning Point: A New State and a New Perspective The real shift happened when my family and I made the move from Florida to North Carolina. Transitioning to a new home brought a major life change: I left my traditional 9-to-5 to begin homeschooling my autistic son.
Stepping into the role of an educator for my son opened my eyes. I realized that while I was pouring my heart into his growth, I also needed to honor my own. I needed to do something for myself—to reclaim the creative spark I’d kept tucked away. With the rhythm of our new life in NC, I finally found those pockets of "me time" that whispered: if not now, when?
More Than a Name: Creating Wonders I looked at Ally Blue Wonders Design and realized it wasn’t just a business name; it was a reflection of how I see the world. I didn’t want to just “do” design or check off tasks; I wanted to create wonders.
I decided it was time to stop dipping my toes in and finally take the leap.
Expanding the Journey This isn’t just about a change in my daily schedule; it’s an expansion of my identity. As I transition into this freelance journey, I am opening up more space for what truly matters:
Deep Connection: Working one-on-one with clients who are as passionate about their brands as I am about mine.
Creative Freedom: Pushing the boundaries of what Ally Blue Wonders Design can offer to small businesses that need a unique voice.
Purpose: Knowing that every hour I work is spent building something I truly believe in, while being present for the people who matter most.
Let’s Create Something Wonder-full I am officially taking on new projects and I couldn't be more excited to get started. If you have a dream for your business that you’ve been putting aside—just like I did—let’s unpack it together.
It’s time to stop waiting for the perfect moment and start creating it.
With love and wonder,
Allison Cosenza Founder, Ally Blue Wonders Design
